Mary Beth has restrained Elgin, and is trying to convince him to trust her.
"I’ll always see that you have what you need. You need to come now, don’t you?” She kept up a litany in her soft voice. “I’m going to let you come now, Elgin. When I tell you to, I want you to come.”
“Oh, God, Mistress…”
