40Versary-Birthday-2015 Eve - New Release Party

Thanks so much for stopping by. First things, first, let my resident hunk pour you a glass of champagne then I'll explain what this party is all about.

Got your bubbly?

Okay, raise your glass in celebration!

Today is not only my Birthday, yep, it really, really is (Happy Birthday to me...), but it is also the 40th anniversary (aka 40versary) of my first date with the love of my life.
LOML (Love Of My Life) took me to see The Towering Inferno (that's a movie for those of you who aren't old enough to remember).

Afterward, we went out for pizza.
Did I mention it snowed that night? (Kind of a big deal in Dallas)
It was all very romantic, which probably explains why I still love to watch it snow.
I married LOML 3 1/2 years later.
This summer we will celebrate our 37th anniversary. (Hmm...sees another party on the horizon.)

Personal life aside, it is New Year's Eve. That alone is reason to party!

Let me be one of the first to wish you a happy and prosperous
New Year.

With the dawn of the New Year comes the release of
HEARTS ON FIRE.
When hearts meet, magic happens.

Hearts on Fire was first released as part of the Seduction - One Fortune at a Time anthology (Cupid Publishing, Sept., 2014).

Blurb -

Single father and firefighter, Steve Rankin has every reason to distrust flighty people, given the way his former girlfriend dropped their infant daughter on his doorstep six years ago then left to ‘find herself.’ When the fortune-teller at the Renaissance fair tells him there’s a woman who needs him, he rejects the prediction as so much idiocy from a fraud who couldn’t even predict a fire in time to save her booth from burning to the ground.

Shannon Perry isn’t looking for love, despite her friend Nadya’s prediction that a man with broad shoulders is in her future. It’s been years since Shannon has felt anything except numb, so when desire stirs in her body for the sexy firefighter with the adorable sprite of a daughter, stepping closer to the flames is too tempting to resist. From the sparks of desire, the fire burns hot and fast for both of them, but lessons learned the hard way could stand between them and a future together.

Review of Hearts on Fire -
Lee’s story really hit all the right notes with me. Firefighter, hero and loving father; Steve is essentially every woman’s dream man. Let’s face it, who can resist a man in uniform? From start to finish, it is the type of story I would want to read again several times.

Hearts on Fire is available from these retailers:

  1. My first date took me through a Church's Chicken drive thru and asked for a box of necks and gizzards. We shared a Old English 800 40 oz of beer. WORST DATE EVER!

  5. Happy Birthday and Happy 40versary!!! On my first date with my husband, we actually went to a friend's house for a summer barbecue..of course we had talked a couple of weeks on the phone first. But, there was less stress being around a lot of people.

  6. Happy Birthday and 40versary!

My first date with my husband included a movie as well, Ghost in the Shell 2, which is a rather philosophical and esoteric anime film. After that, we went to dinner at Jekyll and Hyde and pretty much spent the entire night talking. It was a great first date. Which probably explains why we are still together, 10 years later. :)

  7. Hope you enjoy your birthday! Eat lots of delicious treats.

My worst date took place when I was in college. I was invited to go canoeing by an old HS classmate who had transferred to my university. We went with another couple that I also knew from HS. Half way through the day i found out it was going to be an over-night camping experience. I was shocked. Absolutely no warning. I had nothing with me not even a jacket. This was an April evening in Wisconsin. I froze!

My husband and I married in 1977 so we are 1 year ahead of you. Our first date was to see the movie JAWS.

  12. I've never been on a date, rather sad isn't it! However, my parents (who were married 16 months after they first met) never really went on dates either, and they will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary in March, so there's hope for me yet!

Well, I liked him from the start so not only did he become my prom date, he eventually became my husband and the father of our 4 kids! We'll be married 20 years in September!!!

  25. On our first date, my husband told me we shouldn't date each other since we worked together. It was also around Valentine's Day, so perfect timing for him. He changed his mind, and asked me out a second time a week later. We have been together ever since. We will celebrate our 20th Anniversary in 2015. We joke that we made it through rough patches early on, so everything else has been smooth sailing. :)

  26. First date , he showed up ,at my place , to a lot of my family members . They were there to check him out. He had a six pack of beer, so the men said they liked him . "He's a beer drinker like them so he's OK. " We went out for a nice meal and talked. He was my first boyfriend and we have been together for close to 34 years.

  30. First off: Happy birthday! And cheers to 40 yrs with yout honey! Now first date thoughts....I don't have many. I am afraid the art of dating and courting is lost for my generation. The first dates I can think 9f are fairly generic. I did enjoy a first date where the guy had. PhD in entomology and we had margaritas and I learned about ants. Sounds geeky but was oh so enjoyable learning about something I did not know much about.

  31. Ah, I know The Towering Inferno. When you watched it, -- wait, I was confusing it with Earthquake, out the same summer, and was going to say that the earth moved. Well, better to savour those things later. amaebi@mail2world.com

  32. Whoops. My first date was fairly horrible, and so was the second. So I wondered what about dates made me so miserable. I figured it out: it was a process of Testing and Rating. So I decided that I would never date again, but only do things with friends, and that worked out quite well,

  33. My first date was terrible. It was in high school and the guy that I agree to go on a date with, thought he was going to score. I'm not that easy and I do have criteria.

  34. My first date was a blind date when I was a teenager. My friend convinced me to go out with a friend of hers. I was extremely shy and uncomfortable the entire time. I never did go on another blind date!

  35. At my age, I cannot remember my first date. However, I do remember my first date with my husband of 49 years. We knew each other only 3 months and see how many years we've lasted. My secret is to never to go bed angry with each other. Always talk about important things until you both are able to figure it out. MY DATE WAS GREAT AND IS GREAT TODAY!
