Thanks so much for stopping by. First things, first, let my resident hunk pour you a glass of champagne then I'll explain what this party is all about.
Got your bubbly?
Okay, raise your glass in celebration!
Today is not only my Birthday, yep, it really, really is (Happy Birthday to me...), but it is also the 40th anniversary (aka 40versary) of my first date with the love of my life.
LOML (Love Of My Life) took me to see The Towering Inferno (that's a movie for those of you who aren't old enough to remember).
Afterward, we went out for pizza.
Did I mention it snowed that night? (Kind of a big deal in Dallas)
It was all very romantic, which probably explains why I still love to watch it snow.
I married LOML 3 1/2 years later.
This summer we will celebrate our 37th anniversary. (Hmm...sees another party on the horizon.)
Personal life aside, it is New Year's Eve. That alone is reason to party!
Let me be one of the first to wish you a happy and prosperous
New Year.
With the dawn of the New Year comes the release of
HEARTS ON FIRE.
When hearts meet, magic happens.
Hearts on Fire was first released as part of the Seduction - One Fortune at a Time anthology (Cupid Publishing, Sept., 2014).
Blurb -
Single father and
firefighter, Steve Rankin has every reason to distrust flighty people, given
the way his former girlfriend dropped their infant daughter on his doorstep six
years ago then left to ‘find herself.’ When the fortune-teller at the
Renaissance fair tells him there’s a woman who needs him, he rejects the
prediction as so much idiocy from a fraud who couldn’t even predict a fire in
time to save her booth from burning to the ground.
Shannon Perry isn’t
looking for love, despite her friend Nadya’s prediction that a man with broad
shoulders is in her future. It’s been years since Shannon has felt anything
except numb, so when desire stirs in her body for the sexy firefighter with the
adorable sprite of a daughter, stepping closer to the flames is too tempting to
resist. From the sparks of desire, the fire burns hot and fast for both of
them, but lessons learned the hard way could stand between them and a future
together.
Review of Hearts on Fire -
Lee’s story really hit all the right notes with me. Firefighter, hero and loving father; Steve is essentially every woman’s dream man. Let’s face it, who can resist a man in uniform? From start to finish, it is the type of story I would want to read again several times.
Hearts on Fire is available from these retailers:

ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, lovely lady~ Rock it hard but safe ;)
Not enough beer in the world to wash down necks and gizzards! LOL
DeleteMy 1 date with my husband I was seventeen. He took me to a 50/60s outdoor music festival. And shared a first kiss there. We where so young and everyone else with in there late 30s a d up. But it's was a great time. We are are still together 27 years in Jan.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday
Ahh, that sounds like a great way to begin a relationship! Congrats on the upcoming anniversary.
DeleteMy hubby and I just celebrated our 40versary in November. Congratulations and happy birthday.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Congrats on the anniversary!
DeleteMy first date with hubby was pizza and a movie - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy 40Versary!!
LOL Maybe not the wisest choice in movies? Maybe he knew he was doomed to love you?
DeleteHappy Birthday and Happy 40versary!!! On my first date with my husband, we actually went to a friend's house for a summer barbecue..of course we had talked a couple of weeks on the phone first. But, there was less stress being around a lot of people.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great first date!
DeleteHappy Birthday and 40versary!
ReplyDeleteMy first date with my husband included a movie as well, Ghost in the Shell 2, which is a rather philosophical and esoteric anime film. After that, we went to dinner at Jekyll and Hyde and pretty much spent the entire night talking. It was a great first date. Which probably explains why we are still together, 10 years later. :)
That does sound like a great first date. Thanks for sharing!
DeleteHope you enjoy your birthday! Eat lots of delicious treats.
ReplyDeleteMy worst date took place when I was in college. I was invited to go canoeing by an old HS classmate who had transferred to my university. We went with another couple that I also knew from HS. Half way through the day i found out it was going to be an over-night camping experience. I was shocked. Absolutely no warning. I had nothing with me not even a jacket. This was an April evening in Wisconsin. I froze!
My husband and I married in 1977 so we are 1 year ahead of you. Our first date was to see the movie JAWS.
Sounds like college guys - omitting the most important information! Glad you survived!
DeleteHappy Birthday, Roz!
ReplyDeleteMy husband & I celebrated the 8th anniversary of our first date yesterday! He took me to dinner at Ruby Tuesday's on our first date and after we went to hear a live band play! We were married less than a year after that date!
Congrats on the 8versary! LOL
DeleteI can't even remember when my first date was or with whom. Since I'm divorced, I don't really have any good memories with my ex, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that. Sounds like it's time to make some new memories!
DeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY ROZ!! What a great day for a birthday......this new book sounds great. Can't wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI met my hubby on a blind date when I was 17. A guy I worked with, who went to school with him set us up. Seven years later we were married and this past May we celebrated 25 years of marriage! I can truly say it was a great date! ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Enjoy your fun day!
Happy 40th Anniversary of your first date! :)
Happy New Year too!
Blind date works out...I think that's a first! Congrats on 25 years!
DeleteI've never been on a date, rather sad isn't it! However, my parents (who were married 16 months after they first met) never really went on dates either, and they will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary in March, so there's hope for me yet!
ReplyDeletejen dot barnard at btinternet dot com
There is always hope, Jen! The right one is out there, says the eternal optimist!
DeleteHis sister and boyfriend showed... then had a fight... memorable for the wrong reasons!
ReplyDeleteUgh!
DeleteHappy birthday and anniversary! It was at the movies
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteWishing you a Very Happy Birthday and a Prosperous New Year! My first date with my future husband was at a movie too. We have been happily married for many years.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Seems like movies are still a great first date option!
DeleteHappy Birthday
ReplyDeleteWe went to a dance. I grew up knowing him so it was just a friendly encounter. Nothing earth shattering. We are still friends.
jwisley8@me.com
Dancing cheek to cheek...
DeleteHappy Birthday. Today is also my grandsons birthday. My first date with the LOML was at a dance. Married him 9 months later and we were together for (34 years) until his death.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss. I hope you have 34 years of wonderful memories.
DeleteForgot to say Happy 40Versary, Birthday, & New Release to you! I read Hearts on Fire as part of the Seduction box set, and I have to tell you that MY heart was on FIRE! Loved the story.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Loren!
DeleteFirst date would require a chaperone unfortunately. That included many more dates since parents are overprotective.
ReplyDeleteUgh!!
DeleteHappy Birthday and 40versary! My first date with the LOML was dinner and a movie. This year we celebrated our 30th anniversary. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 30 years!!
DeleteWent to a movie and we just celebrated 30 years this past May...Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteWow! Another 30 year couple! Congrats!
DeleteI met my husband on a blind date (went on a double date to the movies with the couple who set us up) in 1988 in anticipation of asking him to be my prom date. Well, I liked him from the start so not only did he become my prom date, he eventually became my husband and the father of our 4 kids! We'll be married 20 years in September!!!
ReplyDeleteI was brought flowers & chocolate. Very sweet. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeletewe went to see Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid at the movies and now have been married for 41 years -- Happy Birthday to you, wishing you a fantastic day -- my mom's birthday is tomorrow Jan 1st
ReplyDeleteOn our first date, my husband told me we shouldn't date each other since we worked together. It was also around Valentine's Day, so perfect timing for him. He changed his mind, and asked me out a second time a week later. We have been together ever since. We will celebrate our 20th Anniversary in 2015. We joke that we made it through rough patches early on, so everything else has been smooth sailing. :)
ReplyDeleteFirst date , he showed up ,at my place , to a lot of my family members . They were there to check him out. He had a six pack of beer, so the men said they liked him . "He's a beer drinker like them so he's OK. " We went out for a nice meal and talked. He was my first boyfriend and we have been together for close to 34 years.
ReplyDeletewas a blind date and went out with her for 2 years then her grandma got involved and set her up on a date the same night i was suppose to pick her up. She went out with the other guy that night. I dumped her soon after. was really pissed. I am a one woman guy.
ReplyDeleteFirst date... blind date... had a friend with me... she and he flirted back and forth... shared drinks, etc... I guess I was there as the back up friend.
ReplyDeleteHappy B-day, Happy New Year and Congrats on your new release! :)
First date - (Age 16) Bowling and the car ran out of gas on the way home. Thankfully his dad was driving. LOL
ReplyDeletehappy 40versay and Happy New Year!
First off: Happy birthday! And cheers to 40 yrs with yout honey! Now first date thoughts....I don't have many. I am afraid the art of dating and courting is lost for my generation. The first dates I can think 9f are fairly generic. I did enjoy a first date where the guy had. PhD in entomology and we had margaritas and I learned about ants. Sounds geeky but was oh so enjoyable learning about something I did not know much about.
ReplyDeleteAh, I know The Towering Inferno. When you watched it, -- wait, I was confusing it with Earthquake, out the same summer, and was going to say that the earth moved. Well, better to savour those things later. amaebi@mail2world.com
ReplyDeleteWhoops. My first date was fairly horrible, and so was the second. So I wondered what about dates made me so miserable. I figured it out: it was a process of Testing and Rating. So I decided that I would never date again, but only do things with friends, and that worked out quite well,
ReplyDeleteMy first date was terrible. It was in high school and the guy that I agree to go on a date with, thought he was going to score. I'm not that easy and I do have criteria.
ReplyDeleteMy first date was a blind date when I was a teenager. My friend convinced me to go out with a friend of hers. I was extremely shy and uncomfortable the entire time. I never did go on another blind date!
ReplyDeleteAt my age, I cannot remember my first date. However, I do remember my first date with my husband of 49 years. We knew each other only 3 months and see how many years we've lasted. My secret is to never to go bed angry with each other. Always talk about important things until you both are able to figure it out. MY DATE WAS GREAT AND IS GREAT TODAY!
ReplyDeleteHappy/Happy and many more
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I met each other in a parking lot of all places. After 6 days of knowing each other, we moved in together and now 35 years later we have 8 children, 19 grand children and 1 great grand child!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary. We went to a Professors Christmas party for our first date
ReplyDeleteWe dated in high school and that's been forever ago... and we both ran paper routes for our small town's paper, so I'm not sure when our 'first date' really was... Happy Anniversary to you both!
