You would think a romance writer could easily define
romance, but that isn’t the case – at least for this romance writer. After
giving it much consideration, I decided romance means something different for
everyone, but most of us can agree that there are some universal symbols that
represent romance in our minds. Who doesn’t see a bouquet of red roses or a
diamond ring and not think about romance?
After thirty-four years of marriage – to the same guy –
those things are nice gestures, but an offer of dinner out after a long day at
the computer is likely to generate the same response from me as a big bouquet
of flowers. When it comes right down to it, it’s the thought that puts romance
in the gift – not the gift itself.
