Once again, Ms.Bennett dazzles with characters so real you start to suspect your next door neighbor might be the next suspect! I loved every page of this book and couldn't put it down. I had to know who the culprit was, and like any good who-done-it, there are complications, twists and turns only someone who has been in law enforcement could come up with.

My Review-

Once again, Ms. Bennett has taken a magnifying glass and shown her readers the daily struggles of police life, exposed the politics of a metropolitan police force, and illuminated the dark underbelly of seemingly nice neighborhoods. Her characters are genuine. We like some of them and detest a few. We know these people. They live and work among us. It is to the author’s credit that she has taken ordinary thread and woven a rich blanket, in the folds of which she has hidden clues and surprising twists for her readers to discover.

I like the way Ms. Bennett’s mind works, even if it does make me question everything going on around me at any given time. I enjoyed the first two books in this series, but for me, this one is the best yet. 

Five stars, or perhaps that should be five badges, for A Deadly Justice.

Review - The 90 Day Rule by Diane Nelson

When playing by the rules means stepping over the line…


Sometimes starting over means trying out assault and battery, especially when the object d’ violence is a cheating husband caught in the act. Restraining orders aside, safety comes in numbers and having certain … standards.

Who says love and romance is only for the twenty-something crowd? I’m a firm believer that there’s no expiration date on a woman’s heart, and THE 90 DAY RULE by Diane Nelson proves the point.

Jes’s story is one far too many women have lived. At an early age, her dreams fell under the bus that was her husband’s career, relegating her to the subservient role of token wife in charge of nothing but raising the perfect child and projecting the image of the perfect family. It’s all about keeping up images, until she catches her philandering husband in bed with a woman/girl young enough to be his daughter.

Fresh out of options, Jes is sleeping on the sofa in her daughter’s college digs while she tries to knit together a new life with tattered threads from the old one. Help comes from an unexpected source, but like most gifts, it comes with strings attached – play the devoted wife for ninety days, long enough to get her husband re-elected, in exchange for a quick divorce complete with a financial settlement that will allow her to resuscitate her dreams.

This is a wonderfully refreshing read jam-packed with real emotion and realistic conflict. As a reader well past the twenty-something mark, I appreciate a mature heroine with mature issues. Can she pick up where she left off all those years ago? Are the dreams of her youth no longer attainable or realistic at her age? What, exactly, does she have to offer the world? What is she to do with unexpected desire, and the important question in any romance, can she dare to love again?

I loved Jes’s journey from lost and broken to grounded and strong. The transformation isn’t easy, but real life rarely is. THE 90 DAY RULE is honest, and real, and fabulous, as well as refreshing, bold, and well written with layers upon layers to make a reader think along the way. I give it five stars for originality in a genre that too often takes the freeway when a side road might be more interesting.

1.       My favorite Reality TV show is The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I love the idea of having nothing to do but spend lots of money and go to parties. Not likely to happen tho, LOL!! Now who wouldn't want that life? But I'd rather do it without the drama and the TV cameras!

2.       My all-time favorite movie is City Of Angels with Meg Ryan and Nicolas Cage. (But there are so many others I love!) I don't think I know this one. Gotta go check it out now. I do love Meg and Nicholas, so I'm thinking I'm gonna love it. Netflix, here I come.

3.       Worst haircut I ever had was right before my high school senior photo. GAK! I wanted to look cool and ended up looking dorky. So not me. I'm not laughing. Promise. Yeah, that's a lie. I'm LMAO.

4.       Biggest mistake I ever made was above-mentioned haircut. Did I mention that photo will live forever in my yearbook?? Which high school was that? I don't remember you saying...

5.       I once set my parents’ garage on fire. Totally an accident. (Hi, Mom! Really, it was an accident.) Uh huh. Riiiigghht.

6.       I'd eat frogs legs if they were coated in chocolate. I'm not sure I'd go that far, but I do love chocolate.

7.       The worst vacation I ever took was to Eleuthera, in the Bahamas. I woke up one night with a palmetto bug (one of those giant cockroaches) trying to crawl into my mouth. YUK! Eewwww! Gross! Crossing that off my list of travel destinations!

8.       I remember when there were vinyl records. Really? You're that old? LOL

9.       Last book I read for fun was Death Comes To Pemberley by P.D. James. I’ll read anything related to Jane Austen/Elizabeth Bennet!I'm a big Jane Austen fan too.

10.   If I could change bodies and lives with anyone on the planet, I'd switch with Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge. Who wouldn’t?? She’s down-to-earth and elegant at the same time. Great choice! I wouldn't mind being her sister. Same good looks, and a whole lot less responsibility.

11.   You couldn't pay me to become a politician. Me either.

12.   The worst job I ever had was as a candy-striper, cleaning out bedpans at the local hospital. Yeah, you don't have to say any more about that. We get the picture!

13.   The most important thing I learned in first grade was how much I loved stories! I became a writer as a result. And were those stories you loved fairy tales by any chance?

14.   If I could stop Godzilla from destroying my hometown by feeding him one person, I'd give him Charlie Sheen, and good riddance. We’ve had enough of this tiger-blood warlock! I think you'd have a lot of help with this one!

Here's my review of SNOW WHITE AND HER SEVEN LOVERS 


I haven't read fairy tales since my girls were little, but for this, I made an exception. Ms. Ives has taken the classic Snow White tale, given it a modern setting and stripped the heroine of her innocence, making all kinds of things possible. This version is an adult romp through a fantasy every apple eating woman would like to have! Ms. Ives rendition is clever and fun, and surprisingly believable, in a quirky sort of way. You'll smile, giggle, and reach for a fan, or maybe a favorite toy, all at the same time. I haven't had this much fun reading an erotic romance in a very long time.

Jenna Ives has the typical problem that affects a lot of modern authors — multiple personality disorder. She writes for several publishers under a variety of names, but mostly the reason is to keep her poor mother (who used to read sweet romances by Barbara Cartland) from having a heart attack over how sexy modern romances have become!  And Jenna certainly DOES write sexy…
